Trends in Adult Education

Image
I reached out to my partner Liesl.  We discussed the trends in adult education.  Liesl finds that in her field, as a circus instructor, online learning has become an invaluable tool for both the instructor and learner.  The main advantage of online learning is its accessibility.  The stigma of the past of online learning viewed as the 'drive through' or short cut to learning no longer exists.  We both agreed on this trend as we are both engaged in online learning taking this course as a perfect example.  As humans have evolved time has become more precious and distances to education no longer poses an obstacle to skill acquisition.  Another, point Liesl stressed, was that learners' needs can be better tailored to their field of study.  Online courses can be shaped to meet students' requirements and not be inundated with other courses that are irrelevant to our specific field. Take a few minutes of your time and watch the video below as we co...

Trends in the Heavy Equipment Mechanical World

Image
As a heavy duty mechanic one is tasked with the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment such as mobile cranes, trucks and construction machinery. Technology has changed in leaps and bounds from 20 years ago when I started my trade. With the strict environmental laws in most of the advanced economies, manufacturers of heavy equipment must meet greener methods to clean exhaust emissions.  One such ways in which heavy equipment manufacturers can meet such challenge is in the electrification drive components.  Hybrid technology has long been a proven way to cleaner engine emissions in the automotive industry.  This technology is now gaining ground in heavy equipment as well.  Diesel electric drives are becoming more common place as well. With the advent of this technologies heavy duty mechanics have to train on battery and computer control maintenance.  Here is a perfect link to illustrate this changing technology in diesel electric drives.
